Blogs are easy to set-up and even easier to write. Setting up a blog on Blogger should take a few minutes, so is a blog on the free version of Word Press (www.wordpress.com), you can even blog on your Facebook page (they are called notes). Take whatever material you have available and cut it into article size pieces. Articles can be anything from a few senteces (about 250 words) to long stories (above 1,000 words.) A blog with five articles already looks like the real thing. This will get you going quickly and easily. Blog readers have the expectation to read original and fresh content. Your existing material, unless it is on a site with lots of visitors

Since social media work is new to corporate management it seems like budgeting is a vague process. In order to make a case in budgeting social media, managers should look at their overall expenses. Another budget element is the value of social media development with respect to the other elements in development, operation and overhead. Social media, specially blogs and paid advertising may be company’s most important promotion channel. In the past, digital promotion took a back seat to other forms of media expenses, especially TV, print and direct mail. Today this has changed dramatically, especially with products which are web based (portals like eBay, Amazon and Google.) Other products which depend on social media for sales support also need to budget a greater share of their overall expenses into development and operation.
